The HCPL Children's Library at Lone Star College-Creekside Center is dedicated to serving the community by offering a variety of programs and resources tailored for children. The library provides a welcoming environment that fosters learning, creativity, and a love for reading among young patrons.
Children's Programs
The library offers engaging programs designed to support early literacy and social interaction:
- Toddler Time: Held on Mondays from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM, this program features age-appropriate stories, songs, and finger plays to engage toddlers and their caregivers.
- Preschool Story Time: Also on Mondays, from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM, preschoolers and their caregivers can enjoy stories, songs, finger plays, and a take-home craft to enhance early literacy skills.
Children's Resources
In addition to in-person programs, the library provides access to a range of online resources to support children's learning:
- Gale Presents: National Geographic Kids: This digital resource offers adventures in science, nature, culture, archaeology, and space, suitable for children aged 6–14.
- Gale in Context: Biography: With over 600,000 biographical entries, this resource covers a range of historically significant people and present-day newsmakers, providing valuable information for young learners.
