On Your Feet the Musical

BBVA Compass Broadway at the Hobby Center is pleased to announce that the Houston engagement of the hit Broadway musical ON YOUR FEET! – based on the life story of seven-time GRAMMY^® winning international superstar Gloria Estefan and her husband, 19-time GRAMMY^® winning producer-musician-entrepreneur Emilio Estefan – will star Cuban-American Broadway actress Christie Prades as Gloria Estefan, and acclaimed stage and television actor Mauricio Martinez will play Emilio Estefan.

From their humble beginnings in Cuba, Emilio and Gloria Estefan came to America and broke through all barriers to become a crossover sensation at the top of the pop music world.  But just when they thought they had it all, they almost lost everything. Estefan went from international superstardom to life-threatening tragedy, On Your Feet! takes you behind the music and inside the real story of this record-making and a groundbreaking couple who, in the face of adversity, found a way to end up on their feet. 

Nancy Ticotin plays Gloria Fajardo, Gloria Estefan’s mother. “If it weren’t for me, there would be no Gloria,” said Ticotin. As the matriarch, she worked as a teacher to support the family while she and young Gloria cared for her ailing husband. This is a family show about values, conflicts, and tragedy. For this immigrant couple, passion is the glue that holds them together as they strive to achieve the American dream.

Ticotin is excited about coming to the Bayou City to perform. She invites everyone to the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts November 21-26, 2017, to see, hear, and dance to the Estefan’s music. “The cast is superb from A to Z, she said. “Each actor, each dancer, each singer is out of sight and filled with talent.
