Half Day Houston: Butterflies, Park, Theater

By Madison Sowell January 13, 2017

Enjoy a half day in Houston’s Museum District!

First, stop by the Houston Museum of Natural Science on Tuesdays for free admission—you can’t miss the butterfly museum where you can interact with millions of butterflies and even eat a chocolate cricket. Take a picture with the giant T-rex at the dinosaur museum and look at real sarcophaguses in the Ancient Egypt exhibit.

Next, head over to Hermann Park and catch a ride on the train at Kinder Station to ride all around the park for 2 miles and tour the museum district. There are three stops along the way to get off and enjoy the park, or stay for the whole ride to Lake Plaza.

Finally, take a picnic and a blanket to Miller Outdoor Theater for a free movie on the hill! It’ll be a day filled with outdoor fun and exploration!
