The Woodlands Preparatory School

By Jorge Martinez August 9, 2015

As your children grow, your desire to provide the best for them reaches new heights. I think anyone that has children always has in mind to provide a good education. My mother was only able to have a sixth grade instruction, so she made it her mission to ensure that her children surpassed her. Spending long hours fighting with me to do my school work had its reward. It’s only now that I look back at my mother’s struggle that I see how important an education really is.

Private school has always been a topic on the fence, teetering towards either way. Many people believe it to have no benefit, while others can actually say that it would greatly influence a child’s life and their potential to succeed. Private schools are known for having a better student to teacher ratio, having higher standards for academia, and promoting sound values and community service. Children learn to ascend higher in private schools through the exposure of the arts, extra activities, and programs created from their funding.

The Woodlands Preparatory School was founded as a college-preparatory day school for families seeking small classes with high academic standards. The first senior class graduated in May 2008, and since then, their graduates have consistently earned admission to their top-choice colleges. Their campus is located on 27440 Kuykendahl Road in a beautifully forested area just outside The Woodlands.

Woodlands Prep is a private, non-sectarian school for Pre-School through 12th grade. They have been authorized to offer the IB Primary Years Programme since 2010, and the Diploma Programme since 2015. They are a candidate school for the IB Middle Years Programme.

The Woodlands Preparatory School’s mission and only goal is to convene an international learning community that develops students into leaders with integrity through rigorous academics, intercultural understanding, and service to humanity. They believe that an international education should provide a foundation for a well-rounded, fulfilling life. Woodland Prep’s students deepen their knowledge of the world through inquiry, reflection and action by learning from friends and teachers with very diverse backgrounds. They are encouraged to discover and develop talents, interests, and friendships through school and extracurricular activities. They also have many opportunities to make a difference in their local and global communities through service to others.

The Woodlands Preparatory School wants all their students to find a sense of their passion and purpose in life and to develop the confidence and abilities they need to pursue their dreams.
